I have thought long and hard about whether or not to share this part of our story because the topic of finance can be very private for me. I share this part of the story not placing the emphasis on the expenses associated with adopting, but with the miracle God has provided our family in the midst of these expenses. God is so good and I want to share with you the blessings He has already placed on our family by following through with His will.
So many questions began to fill our minds with how we were going to fund this adoption. Our first logical thing we needed to do was to sell our land that we had recently bought and paid closing costs on (makes no sense...right?)
We sought advice from some of our pastors at church about the process and the expenses of adoption and their advice was to pray BIG. That is exactly what we started doing. We literally started talking to God and telling him about our upcoming finance needs (in international adoption, you pay the fees in stages). We had quite a bit of initial expenses that we needed money for and in order for us to have those finances, we needed to sell our land and sell it quick. To make an awesome, long story short, God came through for our family in BIG ways. We were not only able to sell our land, but we sold it by making one phone call, closed on it in 3 weeks, and instead of losing money by paying closing costs again, we were able to make a profit. Not only did we make a profit, but we made a profit that provided almost exactly what we needed for the first round.
I stand firm on the verse in the Bible that says, "whatever you ask in prayer BELIEVING, you will receive. (Matthew 21:22)" We both asked and truly believed and knew that God would find a way and boy were we right! There is huge power in changing your attitude of prayer from "wimpy" to "strong". So often I would throw up daily prayers that are repetitive and had no power behind them. This verse changed my/our prayer life. We now pray for our lives and other's not in hopes of them being answered, but in faith that God will provide! God is good!
Amazing! Brings tears to my eyes. Just had similar conversation with a friend last night. Truly believing Him, and being blessed beyond what you could have even thought to ask for. He is good. - Misti
ReplyDeleteI didn't mean to make you cry! :) I am so glad you were touched by this though. That is our only hope in sharing our story is that somebody will be touched and encouraged by it! I hope you have a great day! ---Brandy
