(1) Right here, right now

So this weekend, I became completely inspired by this woman's blog she writes to inform her family and friends about their adoption journey.  I literally cannot take my eyes off of her stories.  I too, would love to share our story of adoption.  There is so much to adopting I would love to share with people and hopefully be an inspiration to somebody elses journey.  When I first started thinking about writing our story, it was hard to think of where to start.  The process for us began
so long ago that it seems impossible to share all the details.  That being said, I am going to start with where we are at now and then backtrack.  Right now, our family of 3 is patiently waiting to become a family of 4.  We are in the "waiting" stage of the adoption process.  In case you are not familiar with adoption, there is a LOT of waiting that goes on.  We have just been scheduled for our "Biometrics" appointment on November 9th at our Department of Homeland Security office.  Once our fingerprints are approved by our government, they will be forwarded on to South Korea's government and we will be matched with a child.  Wow!  That was really powerful to write.  I talk about it often with people , but putting it in writing just gives me chills.  Jeremy and I long to see a picture of our second child.  I lay in bed at night and wonder:

  • Is our child born already?
  • Is our child being tucked into bed every night like our son?
  • Who is comforting our child right now?
  • What does he/she look like?
  • Will we be adding tutu's to our home or will we be adding more trucks to our home (which by the way, is almost physically impossible to do at this point!)

A steadfast way to calm my anxiety is to say to myself "God, you say in Your word that You Are the Father to the Fatherless and I need you to be there for our child right now while we cannot. " (Psalm 68:5)  This helps comfort me enough to go to sleep.  :)  Another day...
